EVENTS at URBhana
November First Friday!
November, 4th, 2011
Photography by Ashley Overton
Come out for First Friday. Wine, Music, and Art from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
“Make Haste Slowly”, is an experimentation in natural light and the way it manipulates an image. I took these photos on the roof of my building as the sun went down. I find a lot of beauty in a naturally lit image. The way the sun can change the color of hair or skin or a garment, and the way light can affect the contrast of a black and white photograph.”
The Songbirds will be performing, and will be a beautiful accompaniment to the work
October First Friday – October 7th!
Photographer Molly Harrell invites you to join her for First Friday, at URBhana, 115 Gay St, Knoxville, TN, to attend her photography show opening “The Nudes”. This recent collection of nudes, photographed over a period of several months, will be on display thru October 31. A graduate of The University of Tennessee 1986, and The Art Institute of Atlanta 2002, Molly currently resides in Columbia, SC, as a commercial photographer specializing in portraits. Her fascination with the beauty of the human body has led to a continued love of photographing people in the nude.
For this show, Molly works primarily with black and white images. A mix of framed works, images printed on canvas, and mixed media will be featured.

SUNDAY, 10/16/11 AT 3:00 PM…
Bring your favorite medium, whether it be pastels, pencils, or sharpies and prepare for a day of drinking, drawing, and debauchery!
So how does this work?
With the help of our hostess, the Silly Spitfire, Nipsy Tussle and Emcee, The Sweet Little Psycho, Kisa von Teasa, we will bring you performances by students from Dragonfly Aerial Arts Studio the amazing:
David Stewart and Kristina Mynatt
then there’s a surprise teaser performance of the UPCOMING November Session with a special EXCLUSIVE SNACK that you can really wrap your mouth around.
You’ll also get to come face to face with a few of the cringe-worthy crew of Frightworks!
In between acts, get your pencils ready because these same performers will be modeling in a series of poses just for you to get to draw them! There will be a number of ridiculous drawing contests involved where you could get to take home some really sweet swag!
Not much of an artist?
That’s okay! Only about half of the people who come to Dr. Sketchy’s are actually professional artists. Lots of people who have never drawn before attend Dr. Sketchy’s. We’re a fun, non-judgmental environment to try your hand at drawing.
Plus we are also featuring some light entertainment for non-sketchers starting this month…ooh lah and lah!
So, you ready to be an art monkey?
